SIGMA FC Talent Day

While September marks the start of the busy North American University soccer season, Canadian Premier League’s and Major League Soccer’s stretch run towards the championship and important World Cup qualifying matches of which many SIGMA FC graduates will take part in, it also marks a time when SIGMA FC coaches turn their attention to the next generation of young players that will embark on their own soccer journey.

It all starts with the popular “SIGMA FC Talent Day” event on Sunday September 29, 2019 at the home of Sigma FC- Paramount Sportszone Fields in Mississauga (formerly Hershey Sportszone Fields).

The event is aimed at identifying talented young soccer players for inclusion into SIGMA’s development structure including the ETC Program – SIGMA’s technical skills development program throughout the fall and winter months and an evaluation for further progress to the full junior academy teams (“SIGMA FC”).

SIGMA uses the Talent Day model to assess new players and introduce them and their families to philosophy and structure of the organization. On the field the players will receive instruction from the staff coaches of SIGMA FC who have been responsible for developing some of the top talent in the province and country.

“Talent Days are such a special event for us here at Sigma FC. We have met so many new young talents and also reconnected with those who took part in our past events including our summer development camps. The players enjoy it too, as they get to receive a quality training session, in a fun yet educational environment. And we see the progression too, with many of our senior academy players who we first met a Talent Day event! ” said SIGMA coach John Zervos.

SIGMA is home to seven academy teams from U12 to U18 and two Senior Men’s teams (SIGMA FC & SIGMA II). The SIGMA FC “first team” competes in League1 Ontario – a sanctioned professional (standards) league which began play in 2014.

This Coming October, will be the start of the 15th year of our ETC Program which is the first step for young players to develop within the SIGMA structure. The ETC Program has become a renowned success for the quality of training, coaching staff which includes all SIGMA FC team coaches who focus on the development of the individual player in a technical based training curriculum.
